Quick Quotes: Marcel Proust

"The only real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes"

Marcel Proust

It has become more and more apparent to me that the secret to getting more meaningful and emotional images is to photograph near home.  Don't get me wrong, I love a photo trip as much as anyone, but it simply isn't possible to meaningfully and deeply explore a location in a number of days or even a week.  Sure, in that situation, we hopefully walk away with some great images....but typically not a deep body of work.  However, near home you can photograph the same place in different seasons, in different weather, and at different time of day.  What may initially seem boring is often simply a manifestation of "familiarity breeds contempt".

Proust's quote beautifully sums up these thoughts for me.
