Not The Same Old Jennings Thing

Every year my friends and I make our annual pilgrimage to Jennings Environmental Educational Center, where glaciers cut a wide prairie so many millennia ago. And on this prairie grows the ‘Blazing Star’ flower (Liatris spicata to be exact) which blooms at the end of July into the beginning of August. It’s the only place in Pennsylvania where the flower grows naturally, though I have seen it planted in gardens.

Having been to Jennings for the annual bloom so many times, I always start with the ‘routine’ photographs….the ones that catch your eye. But then, after a short time, I find myself wanting to try to make something different.

As part of that desire, I made this in camera 9 exposure image meant to convey the feeling of being completely surrounded by the flowers on the prairie.
