It’s A New Year!

 

Well, 2025 has come and gone, and it’s a new year. They do seem to come and go more rapidly each time around. I don’t know about anyone else, but I have made a number of resolutions, much of which has to do with my art practice, both photography and painting. One of them is to get back to posting here more regularly.

Recently, while walking through the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, I noticed a display I hadn’t seen before. There were beautiful slices of rock mounted on a backlit board, and, using a macro lens, every image seemed abstract….even if they were just single exposures. A bit different from my more recent multiple exposure work, but certainly still abstract! And it fit in nicely with a prior project that I had done of making close up images of rock slices that looked like they contained landscapes within them.
