Long Exposure Sea Stacks

One of the perks of working part time on the Oregon Coast is the chance to visit Bandon Beach in all sorts of weather. On this day, it had actually snowed about two inches (unusual for the coast) and I was hoping for some snow on the beach, but no such luck. I understand that there was some snow to be seen on the sand earlier in the day, but there was work to be done at that time. By the time I got to the beach, what little there had been was already washed away since the tide was high. But that didn’t mean there weren’t still good compositions to be had at the twilight hour!

One of my favorite things to do is photograph sea stacks using a neutral density filter to catch the waves and surf with long exposures. On this evening, the tide was high and this photo was taken with my 100-500mm lens at a focal length of 400mm at f16, ISO 100, for an exposure duration of 15 seconds.
