It's Still Winter

While it’s never too early to be waiting for Spring, I have to accept the reality that it’s still winter. This is, of course, with the hopes that it’s winters’ last breath that we are experiencing. Along those lines, I decided that a healthy approach would be to get out and photograph those last breaths, because pretty soon I won’t have a chance to for another year (eh, let’s face it, I’m not that eager for it to come around again, but at least humor me on this).

With that said, out I went. The weather here has been crazy. When I left my home it was 50 degrees. The weather app said the temperature was going to be dropping fast. And so it did.

When I arrived at Moraine State Park about 45 minutes later, it was in the mid 30s and snow flurries actually started. But I did capture a few shots I was happy with, this one being among them. I felt that the scene, with it’s lack of color, overcast conditions, and fog, transmitted a feeling of desolate loneliness and so I attempted to process it that way. Since there wasn’t much color, I processed it in black and white and added a bit of cool toning (in 3D LUT Creator :)
