Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health by Frank Ghery

This is one of those posts where you find images from long ago that you’ve somehow never paid enough attention to or fully processed. Truth be told, I had tried to process a few of these in black and white, but somehow they just never seemed to look right as monochrome photos.

The photograph is of the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health in Las Vegas and is one of many buildings designed by Frank Ghery. I took the photo on a really excellent workshop I took many years ago with photographer John Barclay.

I discovered the photograph while poking around some of my old unfinished work and, because the black and white wasn’t working, I started playing with the color version until I ended up with this, which I find much more pleasing.

Just because I started with black and white thinking that it would look best doesn’t mean that I had to persist with it if it didn’t seem to be doing the trick. There’ a lesson there!
