Putting Your Artwork Out Into The World

You've finished processing your photo or making your outwork....but what happens after you put your photo out into the world? It's not really yours anymore and it takes on a life of its own. Others may see and interpret your work quite differently than you had intended, and I think that is actually a good thing. In fact, leaving a bit of mystery and uncertainty in your work engages viewers to interpret it through the eye of their own life experiences. That is the subject of this video.

Do you agree that once artwork is put out into the world it is open to interpretation by all viewers, or is the artists original intent the only 'correct' interpretation'? Do multiple different interpretations mean that your image lacks clarity, or is it 'better' to invite uncertainty and to generate multiple interpretations? Do you enjoy hearing other peoples interpretations of your images?

As is usual, if you subscribe to this blog by email, the video will not come along for the ride, but you can watch it here on YouTube: https://youtu.be/WyGx4e-NA3Y
