Shooting Near Home

One of the nice things about shooting near home (and the Covid era seems to make everything near home easier and safer) is that you can go back to wherever you want to make photographs in any season or weather. Sometimes, though, we become so used to the places right near our homes that we overlook the beauty and photographic opportunities that might be there.

There is this little tiny (and I mean tiny, tiny) pond right near my home. It’s really not so much a pond as it is a small pool of water which is part of a small monument to George Westinghouse (if I remember correctly). It’s the sort of little place that you drive by on the way to somewhere. For me that somewhere is usually the small botanic garden near my home. I mean, why stop at the little pond thing if you can go to the botanic garden? While I guess during the Covid era I have been trying to think of things a little differently and recognize some other opportunities.

So I went to the pond. I’m glad I did because then you start to see all the little things around there that you hadn’t really stopped to notice before. Like this.
