Another Barcelona Mural

A week or two ago I posted an image of an urban mural I had seen walking around on a family vacation in Spain. As I mentioned in that post, I find it hard to combine family vacations with photography because I tend to photograph in a slow and deliberate fashion. If I photographed the way I usually do, my family would be three or four blocks ahead of me by the time I made a photo and I would then be hopelessly lost (I have a horrible sense of direction). I also didn’t want to carry my relatively heavy dSLR for miles if I wasn’t going to be able to make any ‘serious’ photos anyway. So if I was going to take any photos at all I was going to have to move fast and use my phone!

Urban murals are one of the things that always seem to attract my attention. I do have a project where I photograph small little sections of murals that seem to stand alone as abstract art, but there are some murals (like this one and the last one I posted) that just seem to call out to be seen as a whole. When I passed this one painted onto a door in a small back-street, I couldn’t help but get out the phone and take the photo. I had to smile while including the small puddle in front of the door because it looked like it was perfectly placed to insinuate that the fellow in the mural had just urinated in the street. What can I say - I think of weird things :)
