Blog

Motivation is a photography blog that discusses the creative aspects of photography. The posts will include thoughts about images and their interpretation, photographers and their work, technique, workflow, my ongoing projects, and perhaps even the occasional off topic rant.

Hands, Homewood Cemetery

Human hands reveal a lot and can be every bit as expressive as other parts of the body and face.  Here are some of the most expressive hand photographs I have seen by Steve McCurry....you know him....he made the famous photo of the Afghan woman with the penetrating eyes.

Sometimes the hands can be an important part of a statue as well.  I saw a wonderful statue that was part of one of the headstones in Homewood Cemetery, where I have been photographing recently.  I have a photo of the statue's head as well, but the hands, in isolation, also seem to tell a story.
