Print Of The Month

The print of the month offers a fine art print from Howard Grill's collection at a 50% discount.

Print Of The Month

Each month I offer one of the prints from my collection at a 50% discount.

So what's the catch?  Well there really isn't one!

The discount doesn't apply to small prints since 50% off 15 bucks would barely allow me to cover the shipping cost.  But it does apply to medium, large, and gallery sized prints. The print sizes are described here.

An image will be only offered as the print of the month once......so if you see something you like grab it while it is on sale!

Print Of The Month - December 2016

My December print of the month is actually an image that I took about ten years ago, but still holds great meaning for me. Bandon Beach is a surreal location that one has to visit to truly appreciate. This print gives a small taste of what it is like.

Print Of The Month - November 2016

It has been some time since I offered my "Print Of The Month" special. This was because of the demise of my Epson 7900 printer, my wait for the new Canon printer models to come out, and the time needed to become facile in the use of the new printer. I am pleased to announce that I now feel quite  comfortable' with the new printer and am truly pleased with the results I am getting, which in many ways I like more than the prior Epson. Which means I am ready to bring back my half priced "Print Of The Month".

For the return of "Print Of The Month" I offer this image, entitled "View Down The Youghiogheny", which I made just a few weeks ago. I was experimenting with long exposures in order to give the water, which is slow moving at this portion of the river, a blurred milky appearance. This one minute exposure was my favorite of the many photographs I made of this scene.

Print Of The Month  - March 2016

Unfortunately, my printer had a bit of a tragedy.....it died! So until I purchase a new wide format printer I am forced to suspend the Print Of The Month. I am currently waiting for the new Canon wide format printers to be announced, which I hear will be quite soon with shipping in June. So, while Print Of The Month will resume, it might not be until late summer.  I will put up a blog post when it is back again. Thanks for looking!

Print Of The Month - February 2016

This month I offer a brand new winter image that is not even on the website yet. It was, however, featured in my blog and you can read more about it here.

Print Of The Month - January 2016

I like this winter shot so much (even though I hate the winter) that I am bringing it back for another turn as Print Of The Month. Seems like January should have a nice winter scene, and this was shot locally at McConnell's Mill State Park.

Print Of The Month - November 2015

This month's offering is a new image that was taken at Lake Arthur in Moraine State Park. The foggy morning sunrise was one of those times that makes it all worthwhile to get up at 4:30 AM!

Print Of The Month - October 2015

This month I am offering a new image, one that is scheduled to appear in a blog post in coming weeks. This view of the Monongahela River and downtown Pittsburgh at sunrise was taken from Mount Washington earlier this month. In order to reveal detail in all areas of the image five exposures were blended into the final image.

Print Of The Month - September 2015

I guess I am a little late in posting my September Print Of The Month offering!  This month I would like to offer another black and white print...this one an image made in Valley Of Fire State Park in Nevada at sunset, though what attracted me was the amazing cloud formations.

Since I am posting this one two weeks late I will offer it at the sale price until the end of October.   If you decide you would like to purchase it after September 30th just shoot me a message using the website contact form.

Print Of The Month - August 2015

After a summer break the "Print Of The Month" is back, and this time I have a black and white offering. The light on these trees was quite special and is what 'called me' to make this image

Print Of The Month - July 2015

The Print Of The Month offer will return in August to allow for a July summer vacation!

Print Of The Month - June 2015

For June, the Print Of The Month is one that is not even up on the main website yet.  It is that new and comes from my recent trip to Hocking Hills outside of Columbus, Ohio.  This is the Upper Falls from the park called 'Old Man's Cave'.  The green coloration of the water is 'real', and I presume related to minerals in the water.  It was really quite a wonderful and photographically productive trip.

Print Of The Month - May 2015

For May, the Print Of The Month is from a location that I go to often, the 528 Boat Ramp in Moraine State Park.  It is a location that often looks quite bland, but when you happen to be there at just the right time things turn magical.  It takes many early trips to catch moments like this.

Print Of The Month - April 2015

For April, I am once again offering a brand new photograph as Print Of The Month.  This image entitled "Flaming Tulip" was made only a week ago and seems quite fitting for the start of Spring!

Backlighting provides one of the most dramatic types of light, particularly when it streams through a translucent object.  When I saw this tulip being backlit by the sun, I decided to put the point of focus on the area where the stem turns into flower and let the rest of the bloom simply explode into a blur of yellow flames.

Print Of The Month - March 2015

For March, I am offering a new image....one that I just made in February 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada. I was attracted to the World Market Center by its graphic lines and shapes, which is what I intend to convey in this photograph.  You can read more about the making of this image in my blog post entitled Death Valley Warm Up.

Print Of The Month - February 2015

For February, I decided to go with a more urban image.  This was taken from a hillside underneath Rt 80 in Cuyahoga National Park.  I was drawn to the repeating shapes made by the trestles.

November 2014 Print Of The Month

The month of November brings to my region the last days of fall.  November's Print Of The Month depicts just that.  This photograph was taken in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.  I was driving somewhere else but when I saw this foggy morning scene I had to stop and take some photos.  It wasn't until I made a large print that I saw the added surprise of a crow sitting on one of the tree branches.  Sometimes these small added details just make me smile!

October 2014 Print Of The Month

What better way to start the Print Of The Month Series than with a seasonal offering for the start of fall?  A waterfall on the Appalachian Trail in New Hampshire is framed by yellow autumn leaves. It was this framing that attracted me to the scene. The wind was blowing quite a bit and, for me, the subtle motion of the leaves at the top of the photo really transmits that feeling.
