Fall Impressions I

Fall Impressions Abstract I

Place: New Hampshire

Location: Shelbourne Birch Forest

This image is the result of an interest in producing abstract photos that transmit a pure 'feel' without the need to be sharp . As a matter of fact, the image is purpossefully blurred so that the viewer can focus on the abstract idea and not the subject itself. Here, I was not trying to convey a scene of birch trees in the fall, but, rather, to convey the idea of what it is like to be among the fall colors in the forest.

This particular abstract was made by mounting the camera on a tripod, but physically moving the camera downwards during a long exposure. When making abstracts such as these, there is a lot of trial and error involved until one gets just the right amount of motion to produce a photograph that 'feels' right and seems to express the feeling that is trying to be conveyed.
