The Dangers Of Wet Plate Collodion Photography

I had to follow up my Spirit Photography video series with this video, which was quite interesting to research. I wanted to find out more about the type of process William Mumler used and was surprised to find out that there were quite a number of inherent dangers in using the wet plate collodion photography process. This included the potential for explosions as well as the formation of cyanide gas. This week’s video goes into the specifics of that and also talks about the transition to the dry plate process, which made photography far more accessible to the average person.

As usual, if you subscribe to the blog be email the video will not come along with the mail. You can see the video on YouTube here: https://youtu.be/G2uqszuI-Yw
